Earthsea - The Tombs of Atuan by collin-kerr Earthsea - The Tombs of Atuan by collin-kerr
Based on the 2nd novel of "The Earthsea Quartet" - The Tombs of Atuan by Ursula K Leguin.

An illustration of Ged/Sparrowhawk, together with the High Priestess, Tenar.... I drew Ged a bit older compared to my previous interpretation as it is described he is coming of age. I based Tenars clothes on the mini-series, but drew her as a fair-skinned brunette, as described in the books.

I took alot of time colouring the characters, i didnt spend as much illustrating the background... sorry ppls! it took me about 2 weeks to complete, because of real life commitments and other things.

Well, enjoy!

Updated Febuary 5, 2k5: Changed the grassy fields into a desert, and removed the tree... now it looks more accurate!

I thought Ged was supposed ot have dark skin and dark hair. I also thought Tenar's hair was black for some reason. I don't know why.

Wasnt Ged darker of skin and Tenar of black hair in the book? Anyway, really like the slickness of it, it feels finished!!!

ged was meant to be copper-red/brown skin colour, and as for tenar... shes described to have fair skin and red hair... i find it a bit weird that shes fair despite spending her life in a monastry in the desert..

you may be thinking of vetch (estariol), who was actually dark brown and serret, a fair lady with long black hair...

im glad you enjoyed the picture, and i hope you get to see more works i do based on the quartet.

Fair-skinned compared to anyone who isn't a Kargad, yes. Besides, she spends a fair amount of time indoors or under ground....and red-heads don't tan very well. ;D

yeah... in the book, Atuan is a desert like setting, so i'll probably change the background accordingly. As for the pencil illustrations, i've got alot done i doubt ill post online, so yeah, just come over sometime and ill show them.
